How to install Phantom

  5. Write down your 12-word recovery phrase on paper and store it offline.
  6. Set a strong password and enable biometric unlock on mobile.

Never share your 12-word recovery phrase. Phantom support will never ask for it. Store your recovery phrase offline on paper or metal, never in a screenshot, email, or cloud notes. Enable a hardware wallet for large balances. Verify every transaction before signing — check the recipient, the amount, and the token mint address. If a website requests an unlimited token approval, decline unless you fully trust the contract.

Common Phantom errors

"Phantom not detected" — the extension is not installed or is disabled. Reinstall from phantom.app.
"Transaction failed" — usually caused by insufficient SOL for gas or slippage too low. Add SOL and increase slippage.
"Connection rejected" — you clicked Cancel in the Phantom popup. Click Connect again and approve.
"Wrong network" — Phantom must be on Solana Mainnet. Switch in Settings → Developer Settings → Change Network.
